The Heart Behind the Art
I donβt paint mountains to show a mountain nor paint a stream to show a stream.
The water has already flowed there, the pines have already stood there,
and the light has already touched the stones.
I hope to paint a feeling of connection; that moment when the world grows quiet, when burdens loosen their grip,
when a wandering heart remembers where it belongs.
If you pause before one of my paintings and hear the stream, feel the Sun,
the coolness of the shade, or long to walk a path made only of paint, then something beautiful has happened.
For a brief moment, the canvas has become a doorway.
And if a painting leaves my studio and finds a place in your home, my hope is not that you admire it.
My hope is that it welcomes you.
That on difficult days it offers peace, that on busy days it invites stillness..
For every stream has a song, every mountain a glory,
and every path a promise that we are part of something larger than ourselves.
So when someone says to me while viewing my art:
"I want to be right there,"
I smile.
Because that was always my intention.
Not to paint a place.
But to create one.
